How Consignment Payouts Actually Work at Leapin' Littles
Curious how consigning works? Here's what to expect when you drop off with Leapin' Littles in Historic Downtown Denison, from walk-ins to payout options.
How Consignment Payouts Actually Work at Leapin' Littles
If you've never consigned before, it's easy to assume it's more complicated than it's worth. A lot of parents hang onto that thought right up until they finally bring a bag by and realize how simple the whole thing actually is. Here's exactly what to expect, from walking in the door to walking out with something for your trouble.
Walk In, or Plan Ahead. Your Call.
You don't need an appointment to consign with us. If you've got a box or two sitting by the door, bring it whenever it's convenient and we'll take a look. If you're clearing out a bigger load, closet clean-out style, no worries! Just choose your favorite 30 clothing items and unlimited shoes, toys, books, and gear, bring them by and we'll have a look. Though we do always suggest arriving early if you are bringing clothing, as we fill up on clothing most days by 11am.
What Happens When You Drop Off
Once you're here, we go through what you've brought and sort it into what we're able to take. Items that make the cut get tagged and priced for the floor. We'll let you know in the moment what's a yes and what isn't, so there's no waiting around or wondering. The whole process is usually quick, even with a full bag.
Cash or Store Credit, You Decide
When your items sell, you get to choose what to do with your funds; you can cash it out or use itas store credit to use on your own shopping trip. Plenty of people split the difference over time, taking credit one visit and cash the next depending on what they need that week. We'll walk you through the specifics and current rates in person, since it's easier to explain face to face than to try to spell out every scenario here.
What Tends to Sell the Fastest
Not everything moves at the same speed, and knowing what typically goes fast can help you decide what's worth bringing in first:
-
Name brand pieces in good condition, especially ones parents already recognize
-
Current or upcoming season items, since a fall coat has more demand in September than in June (we do take all seasons all the time though so you can get it out of your way, we just store off-season)
-
Gently-used shoes, which sell quickly because kids go through sizes so fast
-
Sets and matching pieces, which tend to catch a shopper's eye faster than single items
If you're not sure whether something's worth bringing in, bring it anyway. We'll sort it out for you.
A Local Shop, A Local Payout
We're not a chain, and your consignment doesn't disappear into some corporate system. Leapin' Littles is a small shop right in Historic Downtown Denison, and every payout comes from another Texoma family choosing your item off our racks. It stays local, start to finish.
